The Unisa Science Engagement Centre (USEC) a strategic project within the Unisa College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET), and the Department of Information Systems in the School of Computing, in collaboration with the Centre for Lifelong Learning (UCL).
In the changing world of technology, interest in coding, robotics, gaming and related fields has exploded, especially amongst the younger generation. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) in South Africa has launched robotics and coding in the school curriculum to help develop skills in this field, in line with other countries, where these subjects have been successfully introduced to mobilize knowledge and develop 21st century skills towards 4IR.
The Unisa I-SET robotics project within USEC has developed several Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) & Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) as well as practical robotics workshops for publics; giving an opportunity to educators, facilitators, students, and visionary community leaders in South African and beyond, to acquire knowledge and skills to impart to learners in schools.
The webinar is aimed at everyone interested in this subject matter, educators, community leaders as well as existing and potential students of the SLPs!
